|
|
At one time one of my area computer gurus figured out what file to replace after installing 5 so I would have “my font list” only…not all the tt’s on the computer.
Just to clarify I have a “master” file with all the fonts that I use in Signlab. After re-installing Signlab he would replace a file with my “master” file and I would end up with JUST the fonts that I wanted. I don’t know what file he replaced and he’s no longer around. I’m guessing it’s possible to do the same thing in 7.
Can anyone tell me how to do that in 7?
Thanks Jeff |

You can create groups of fonts. Click the 'A' icon as if you were adding text and a 'F' icon appears on the top bar next to font list - click that and a dialogue box appears, near the top is groups and to the right is an options button, click that and new - name your new group and then add fonts to it.

Yes, the Font Detective allows you to filter your fonts into groups. We had an opportunity to look at this previously in the forum here:

Just scroll down to "Adding bullets to text list" for a procedure that creates a font group for use with selecting bullet characters. |

Actually, it occurs to me that I should just copy-and-paste the previous example. Here you go...
Adding bullets to text list
Currently, the bullet feature acts like a character insertion tool (i.e., you choose the lines that you want, click the Bullets button, and a bullet character is added at start of each line that was selected). However, the trick is in choosing a good bullet character that looks good. Here are some suggestions:
Create a group of symbol fonts
- Start off in text edit mode and click the blue 'F' button that is used to select fonts. This will open the Font Detective dialog.
- Set Group = All Fonts
- Set Show Filter = ON
- Near bottom of dialog, set Type = Pictorial
- Set the Font Type tab = both Adobe Type 1 and TrueType
- Click the Filter button. Your font list will now be composed only of symbol font groups on your system.
- Near top-right of dialog, left-click Options button and choose Add Group.
- Type a group name, such as "Bullets"
- Click the "with the current filter selection"
- Click OK to create the group
- Back on the Font Detective, the listed group should be "Bullets." Click the Select button that is to the right of that drop-list, and the Font Detective will close. You may notice that the "Bullets" group is now available from the drop-list when you are choosing fonts. However, let's consider how to use this with bullets.
- Right-click the Bullets button.
- In the Text Bullet Properties dialog, click Browse to open the Font Detective.
- Choose the Bullets group, and then browse the font that you'd like. For example, try Webdings and then click Select button.
- In the Text Bullet Properties dialog, use the scrollbar to browse the available characters.
- Click OK when good character found for bullets.
- Back in text compose, select the lines that you want to have bullets.
- Left-click the Bullet button to insert the bullets.
