Program is running on XP. Program runs and works. Dongle is not being read for some reason. Getting Error Message 1. Security key is correct. Able to make up to 4 designs in program then error message appears. Does the plotter HAVE to be connected to dongle in order for it to be read? I'm being told it does not. an argument with my father that's driving me nuts |

No the plotter does not have to plug into the dongle.
Sounds like you have an old parralel port dongle.
Look for bent pins.
Make sure nothing is pluged in the back of it and try again.
Are you familiar with the diferrance between a serial port and a parralel port. The male pins of the dongle need to plug into a port with 25 holes in it.
If its still not working, do you have a printer?
Remove the dongle.
Try to print to your printer from notepad or some other program.
Could be the parralel port is no longer functioning.
Or it could be the dongle is dead.
Can you try it on another computer |
