In Signlab.
Do not add registration marks in Signlab! They are added in VPM5 instead.
Make your Sign.
Make objects that you want cut, contour cut objects by selecting them, and then click on Cut/Contour cut.

In VPM5, install your cutter.
Go to Queue/Properties/Cutter/Registration Marks.
Change the regmark system from Disabled, to the one matching the cutter settings

Knife Position
Most Mimakis have 2 pen positions in the Tool holder.
You need to make sure that the knife is in the correct tool holder position.
There is usually a sticker on the machine showing the cut position.
There is a pounce or half cut position that only works correctly if you send an SP6 command.
If the tool is in the wrong holder, cut data will be off by 1/2 inch at least.
On the older Mimaki FX cutters, the tool needs to go in the Back position for regular cutting.

Cutting with Registration Marks
Ensure that the cutter and VPM are set for the same mark types, number of marks (4 pts recommended), size (0.50 default).

All Reg Marks settings in VPM are here:
Queue menu > Properties > Cutter > Registration Marks

Setting Up the Cutter
In the Mimaki cutter:
Make sure it does not say REMOTE on the display. If it does, press the Remote button to go offline
Press the Function button
Press the Arrow Down (twice) until you see SET UP
Hit Enter
MARK DETECT
Hit Enter
MARK DETECT > select 4 pt
Hit Enter 3 times and check the SIZE
Hit Enter 3 more times and check the TYPE (1 or 2)
Hit Enter
Hit End as many times as needed
Hit REMOTE to be ready to cut

To stop the cutter from looking for reg marks TWICE
Press the Function button
Press the Arrow Down (twice) until you see SET UP
Hit Enter
Down arrow as many times as need to get to SEARCH MARK
Press enter and turn it to OFF
Hit End as many times as needed
Hit REMOTE to be ready to cut

Cutting the job
If after inserting the vinyl, you get a TP1 message on the cutter, just press the END key to get rid of it.
When sending to cut from VPM, you will be prompted to move the knife inside the registration mark.
Using the cutter arrows move the knife to the center of the first registration mark (it is the closest to you on the right)
Press the Enter button to set the new 0,0 point.
Send to Cut from VPM

Cutting COPIES with registration Marks.
Go to Queue/Properties/Cutter/Registration marks.
In the middle of the Registration Mark page, you will see where you can enter a distance between copies.
I have found that 1.5 inches seems to work on our Mimaki FX and our Mimake CJV-30
NOTE, you measure and enter the distance between the registration marks.
It does NOT set the distance between. That needs to be done on the printing end of VPM.
You will NOT be prompted to move the knife on the copies, only on the first.
