TOPIC: Signlab 10

Signlab 10 9 months 3 days ago #5580

I was wanting so much to get to the UK sign & digital show (Signlab 10 was launched there 19th April) but once again I'm way to busy.

I am desperate to see all the issues that have been addressed with the new version of Signlab.
Can anyone send/post a link to all the new additions?

At long long last Signlab is a 64bit programme so will be able to use all processors and RAM!!

Why does it say you can download a Demo of V10 but when you try to do so it is V9.1?

Signlab 10 is available Down Under now I understand so I thought I would try the Demo.

I've been a Cadlink/Signlab user since 1988, I love Signlab, but version 10 was not really impressive at first glance.

The good
Faster, on a new Windows 10 machine with SSD it went well, while Signlab 9 is quite slow.

The not so good
I only had about half an hour before I got fed up.
It crashed twice in that time.
It looked boring with the grey icons (maybe they can be changed)
Little had changed for the vinyl cutter except more clipart, which was slow to find and the vehicle templates I suspect one must pay for (I may be corrected on that)
I was hoping that long time and quite useless features like Job Cost Notes would finally be redesigned, but no, still useless.

Maybe I'll try another 30 minutes before the 15 day trial is up - if it doesn't crash.
Right now, I wouldn't pay $500AU for the upgrade in a fit.

Hi Gray

Basically that is exactly how I felt about the new Signlab 10.
Not enough new features have been added.
I couldn't see any benefits to speed on my high specced SSD machine.
Yes it crashes as bad as the 32 bit versions.
The only new features are the clipart and more adobe add ons (which most you can add to previous versions.
All I can see is that Cadlink have re-written the program to access all the 64bit memory but because the software is still basically using the 32bit code very little has changed.

The icons can be changed back to the colorful 9.1 versions in the options menu.

The biggest thing that I was most excited about was the enhanced enhanced view. But it looks like it was mainly designed around users that I guess design one sign on the sign blank in each file and don't have a bunch of objects all over the place. The redraw times made it hard to use for me.

Other than that if you like layers or pages those could be helpful. With the way that we design they are more confusing than useful. Oh and maybe bezier node editing might be something of interest to the vinyl cutter.

I think they are mainly adding features geared more towards the printers though.

There is a feature sheet available though if anyone wanted to look through it
