I'm very excited about some of the new features in version 10 so naturally as soon as I got the email notification I downloaded the trial to take a look, and I'm having some trouble.

Files are taking on the order of 10-20 minutes to load and once they do load movement is so choppy it's unworkable. I'm hoping I just have some setting wrong or there's a limitation on the trial or something.

The files I'm opening were made with version 9.1 most recent build.

Side note: I love the higher resolution but things get very blurry when zoomed out. Are there any settings related to this or is it just the way it is. We work with garbage trucks so in order to see the whole truck we have to zoom out pretty far and the details get blown out.

I can email a file to cadlink staff if needed.

The only limitation with the trial is the omission of the FluidMask module for licencing reasons.
Can you send me a file that you are opening that is taking a long time? send to rayw"at"cadlink.co.uk.
Have you installed 32 or 64 bit version?
There are no controls on the Enhanced view other than On/Off from the view menu.

Huh... weirdly I was writing the email to send you a file and as I was testing again to pick a good one I am no longer having the issue. The files are loading same speed as 9.1. There must've been some gremlins in my network switch yesterday or something. So that's all better.

As for enhanced view where is the bottleneck as far as PC hardware? That is one of the main draws for me to encourage the upgrade to my boss, but as it stands with the amount of items commonly in our files the choppiness when moving around is too much.

Edit: Forgot to say 64bit version.

If you switch off the enhanced view, (View > Enhanced View) does the choppiness go away?

Yes. Without enhanced view it gets better. The redraws are still pretty rough but a tiny bit faster than in 9.1. The way my boss works we get lots of duplicate objects and the logo for our main client has 881 objects in it (blades of grass). Get a few of those on screen and it causes some inconvenience. We tried working with placeholders but it just didn't work out. There's probably some optimization we could do though.

Is enhanced view a cpu thing or does it use the graphics card? Asking because as I move around and cause redraws my cpu usage never goes above 25%.

Also I have a question about text-to-arc should I ask it here or make a new thread?

I am finding out what I can about the enhanced View issue. Add your text to arc question on another heading as it will be easier for others to find if they have similar issues. I will get back to you.
