TOPIC: Mimaki JV33 - software options

Mimaki JV33 - software options 4 months 6 days ago #5720

Hi folks.

We are taking delivery of a JV33 and CGFX on Monday.

I am currently running Signlab 9 on a windows XP PC.

Is there an option to upgrade to the Signlab for Mimaki version of the software.

Any other recommendations?

Many thanks

Danny

Hi Danny.
The Mimaki version of the software will only be of use to you for printing. The output from this product is only to Rasterlink and you cannot run the CG-FX plotter from rasterlink.
To run both you would need the Print & Cut version of Signlab.

If you contact your nearest CADlink office they can give you more advice, have your dongle number handy as it will give added information.

Thanks Ray

We are running signlab print and cut so I guess we will just run directly from print and cut manager as we have with our versacamm up to now

Cheers

Danny

Yes, that should be no problem. You will need USB drivers for the Printer and the cutter (same driver will work for both), these come from Mimaki and allow the printer and cutter to be recognised by the PC.
I think they are downloadable if you don't get a dvd with them on.

Hi Ray.

We now have the JV33. I installed the printer package from the original DVD. This was version 1.18 (i think). When i click to check online for updates, it tells me that version version 1.31 is available. I click to update and it goes through each of the packages from the one i have and decompresses them but then gets stuck on the last one until it crashes. After the crash when i try to open P&C Manager it gets stuck on 'Finding Print Modes' for the JV33 and then crashes.

Any ideas what could cause this? I could do with the latest packages installed to give me the most media profiles. There are only a few with the printer package that is on the DVD and as it updates and uncompresses each subsequent package i can see some useful profiles.

PS those version numbers may be wrong, I can't see them now as P&CM won't open.

Thanks
Danny

Hi Danny,

Try updating the Visual Production manager (Start > programs > Signlab 9 >....)
If a very early version is installed it could be the printer package is too new for the build you have.

If it still fails, open the VPM5 folder and delete the contents of the Queues folder and the two files named Settings. Restart VPM and it will begin as if freshly installed.
Try downloading the printer from the web rather than using the DVD. It may be more successful even if a little slower.
