I have had this problem on occasion and not being a computer nor SL whiz I tried the usual Windows fix for unexplained issues: Close all programs, reboot Widows, restart SL. Most of the time that works. If not, try removing the dongle for a few seconds, place it back in the USB port and restart SL. I'm not sure why this has worked, but it has.

Check to see if the USB dongle is recognised by the PC, it should show as a "CADlink" {it may also show without a name} drive when you look at the drives on the PC. Does it show?
If you do not see it, unplug the dongle and then replace it does the PC know that you have done this? (usually you will hear a beep and get a notification that a new device has been added).

I recently bought a new PC, installed Signlab 4.95 and had this problem too. I understand it is old software but is there any way round this?

Your software was created to be used on windows 95,98 and possibly XP. Anything newer than that and I think you will always get this error no matter what you try.

If you do have a newer operating system a newer program and dongle will be required.
