TOPIC: Group & Ungroup

Group & Ungroup 6 months 3 weeks ago #5983

I am using Signlab 9. My hotkeys as well as the drop down menu for Group (Ctrl+G) and Ungroup (Alt+G) suddenly do not work. I use this function regularly. Other hotkey functions seem to be working fine; i.e.: Duplicate, copy, paste, etc. I am trying to do this on a simple 5-letter word. I have not done any editing or changed the fonts to a graphic. Any thoughts as to why this function suddenly stopped working?

I just opened an old file, and the function works perfectly, however, any new file I create it does not.

Can you attach a simple job that is newly created and has the issue, so I can try it out?

Here is a rough draft. I was looking online for solutions and one thing I found was that new software could be using the same commands and override. I installed a wireless printer last week. I am wondering if this could possibly be the cause. I even tried to restore my computer to before the printer was installed, and that did not make a difference. Any files I open that were created more than a week allow me to group and ungroup. It seems any new file I create does not allow that function - not even from the drop down menu. So, I am thinking I should probably uninstall the printer and see if that is the problem.

Interesting discovery. I suspect either the new software for the wireless printer I installed on my computer may have had something to do with it - or the automatic updates Windows 10 may have caused it. Anyway, this afternoon I got the brilliant idea to try other keys to see if I could find a combination that would work. Success! I discovered that Alt+B will Ungroup and Ctrl+G will re-group. Once you re-group you cannot ungroup again. I'm going to work on that to see if I can find a combination.
