TOPIC: Opening file in versaworks problems

Opening file in versaworks problems 5 months 4 weeks ago #6540

Win 10 Signlab 10 Versaworks Roland VP540 contourcut.
Hi
Just upgraded to SL10 & Win 10.
Get the message corrupt file when trying to open the file in Versaworksas when
i am doing it as i used to do.
With Win7 & SL8 i just went to contourcut adjusted the offset & bleed. published the file to pdf.
Finished to open in VersaWorks.

Is this the new way to save files for VersaWorks (below)

Knowledge Base
Creating a cut path in SignLab for cutting from VersaWorks is very straightforward.

First, create a new color for the color palette by double-clicking any color on the color palette. The Edit Color dialog will open. Change Color Type to 'Spot Color'. Under Color Name enter the following as shown ' CutContour ' (but do not include the quotes ' ' and do not include any spaces). When these changes have been made click ADD at the bottom of the window. A new color named CutContour will be added to your palette.

Whenever it is required to export cut paths assigned in SignLab to cut in VersaWorks this CutContour color must be used. If you are creating a new cut path the path will be created using the following workflow.

Go to Cut > Contour Cut and set an offset, but from the color picker choose the newly created CutContour color. This cut path is now ready for VersaWorks. If you have cut lines already created and want to change them to be recognized in VersaWorks, then simply select the cut paths and change the color of the cut path by selecting the CutContour color from the color palette.

Now export using the Level 3 Export filter.

Select the objects you want to export to VersaWorks. Go to File > Export. Under 'Save As Type' select the 'Level 3 EPS' option. Enter a filename and click Export. The file, along with the cut paths, are now ready for VersaWorks.

Kind regards

I have just tried the same with a simple file to Versaworks and versaworks Dual, in both cases the pdf file imported OK. That said it was a very simple file.

Check initially that the Signlab 10 is up to date build wise, Build 10 is the latest, 19127M is the revision build in Help > About Signlab.

EPS or PDF should both work for transferring to Versaworks.

If you double click the PDF you have created does it open successfully in Adobe reader or Acrobat?

Cannot open the pdf-file in Adobe reader whith the contourcut line.
Looked at the build and tried to update with this result.
See attached file.

no file attached :-).

If you go to Help > About Signlab and type R while the window is open what build does it show?

If you need to get this fixed right away, un-installing and re-installing the Signlab 10, and then updating to latest build immediately after install would be the best bet.
I may be able to find a solution to the error, but it will not be until next week as a colleague is on vacation.
